Top 5: Festivals to Book Now

Festival season isn’t as far away as it seems

  • Field Day

    Saturday 3rd June
Victoria Park, Grove Rd, E3 5TB
    £67.50
Highlights: Aphex Twin, Nina Kraviz, Run The Jewels

For the past few years it’s been a whole weekend affair, but this year Field Day goes back to its original single day format. What does this mean? You get to see more artists for less money, and you don’t have to risk being hungover and having to go back on the Sunday. Perfect.

  • Convergence

    21st – 25th March
Various venues, ticket prices vary from £11-40.
Highlights: Jacques Greene, Actress, Andrew Weatherall

Convergence is everything a modern festival should be: diverse, innovative and dynamic. The 5 day festival showcases celebrates everything great about electronic music through a host of gigs, workshops and talks. Running across various iconic London venues (Barbican, KOKO, Village Underground), you can find established artists playing alongside emerging pioneers.

  • Eastern Electrics

    5th August
    New central London location
    £24.95
    Highlights: TBC

This year Eastern Electrics moves from its original location at North London’s Hatfield House to a more central location, which they are keeping secret for now. Good news for those who want to night tube it home. They haven’t announced the line-up yet (hence the early bird tickets) but if last year is anything to go by (Seth Troxler, Martinez Brothers and Richy Ahmed) it’s going to be a good one.

  • Roskilde

    24th June – 1st July
    Darupvej 19, DK-4000 Roskilde, Denmark
Around £230 for a full ticket
Highlights: Arcade Fire, The Weeknd, Solange

Spanning a slightly daunting eight days (don’t worry, four of them are ‘warm ups’), Roskilde is one of Europe’s largest festivals and always has a diverse line-up, so there’s bound to be something you and your friends agree on. It’s 30 minutes away from Copenhagen, so there’s time to squeeze in a city break, AND all of their proceeds since 1971 have gone to supporting social and cultural charities.

  • SXSW

    13th – 19th March
    Austin, Texas
    $1225
Highlights: DJ Yoda, GoldLink, Kadhja Bonet

For one week every year, Austin, Texas plays home to the world’s greatest new music showcase: SXSW. Industry heads, journalists, musicians and music lovers all converge in the live music capital of Texas to discover everything cutting edge; from music to tech and film. If you haven’t been before, make sure you go at least once.
