The Berkeley’s Rooftop Winter Cinema
Wilton Place, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7RL
It’s back! The Berkeley’s Winter Cinema is open on the hotel’s rooftop for another year. Keep warm with fluffy cushions, Moncler fur wraps, mulled wine and hot chocolate as you settle down at London’s smallest private cinema, with just eight seats. See Miracle on 34th Street and Elf in December, or When Harry Met Sally and Breakfast at Tiffany’s in January and February.
Skate Lates at Somerset House
Strand, WC2R 1LA
Winter evenings spent whizzing around the Somerset House ice rink are some of our favourites in the city. Well-chosen DJ sets, dramatic backdrops and cocktails in the Fortnum’s Lodge bar afterwards? Count us in. Now all you have to do is choose which one of their stellar DJ line-up you want to fall over to.
A Night at the Bombay Roxy
The Barkers Building, Derry Street, Kensington, W8 5SE
Want to do something totally different? Then book in for a Night at the Bombay Roxy at the new Dishoom Kensington. The restaurant isn’t officially open to the public until the 15th of December, but from 27th November-14th December they’re hosting this site-specific, immersive theatre production. An Indian noir set in Bombay’s jazz age accompanied by live music from a swinging jazz band, a Night at the Bombay Roxy also includes a welcome drink and a feast from the restaurant.
Clapham Common, Windmill Drive, SW4 9DE
Of all the Christmas markets, Winterville comes out on top for us. Get your shopping done at their independent design market, grab a bite from Street Feast traders Rola Wala, Mother Clucker and Le Bao, try the outdoor ice rink, or book in for Backyard Cinema’s Winter Night Garden. Plus, this year they have a new Spiegeltent, hosting a range of entertainment from Sink the Pink’s Christmas carols to a night of Mexican wrestling.
