Major Laser

Remember this is NOT a collaborative between Switch and Diplo. Nope, they only helped this Jamaican commando fresh from the Zombie War in ‘84 (remember that one? It was the third of the millennium).  Pulling in a collective of the freshest cats from Santogold to Amanda Blank, the project consists of  a bootilicious collection of future dancehall bangers. And the crew will be swinging into town on May 24th for Bugged Out’s Bank Holiday Special at Union Car Park. Fresh.

Swimming

Wider than the seven seas, quintet rock troupe Swimming are doing it right. Sounding like a mixture between ‘80s ‘We did it!/Awesome’ rock and Bowie, it’s like a feel-good match made in radio heaven.  Plus the smattering of electronic beats and pieces makes the Nottingham guys stand heads and shoulders above the rest. Well worth checking. And as they’ll be in our fair LDN June 9th promoting their debut ‘The Fireflow Trade’ at the Queen Of Hoxton, now you can.

Wave Machines

Like Hot Chip? Wish they had more guitars in their sound? Love Wave Machines. Really, part Beta Band, part HC,  dollop of Bat for Lashes, all presented on a plate made of broken toy shop parts. If it weren’t for the fact that wore masks when they played live, they would have found themselves on Jools Holland a little while ago. Where can you catch these misfits? Well they’ll be at the Insomniac Ball June 5th. Pencil it in crayon.

TOP 5: What UJ’s loving right now…

Anthemic houser: Oliver Koletzki ‘Yes We Can’ [Hell Yeah!]  - Sounding like Obama pre-Guantanamo. Interesting doesn’t begin…
