Above bijou nightspot Luxx, just inside the Mayfair perimeter.
Vibe
Tuesday night (when we went) is the new Thursday (or was that Wednesday?), at Cielo at least, so the place was jumping with smooth Italians and leggy club babes, yet the buzz was fun and relaxed rather than intimidating.
Flavours
Sardinian chef Monserrato Marini knows his stuff. Fritto of baby squid, whitebait and zucchini was delicately crisp and moreish and pancetta-wrapped lamb with rosemary and black truffle deliciously savoury and aromatic. Expertly-blended cocktails are courtesy of Andreas Jansson’s easy-on-the-eye team.
Décor
Laid back glam with cream leather banquettes, perspex and mirrors, and a mezzanine lounge which I’m told will become an alfresco terrace in the summer.
Upshot
Glossy but unpretentious - like a hip Southern Italian hotspot - open til 4am and serving exceedingly good food. Book the table by the bar for the liveliest experience.
