In a Sentence
The Cantonese restaurant for the glitterati is back open for business.
Vibe
Glamour, old and new school (perhaps in part a legacy of his ex-wife Grace Coddington). Think suited waiters, Versace-clad diners, prized artwork – from hanging gold suckling pigs to Sir Peter Blake – and, as before, not a chopstick in sight.
Flavours
A combination of Beijing's hawker and haute cuisine (again as before). Think black cod fillets marinated in Szechuan sauces, seafood water dumplings and the famed Mr Chows noodles done authentically in a "secret" sauce with ground pork. Though the décor might be a trip to Milan, the food takes your buds straight to the Orient.
Top Tip
Try the famed Green Prawns dish, an invention based on the equally famous portrait “Mr Chow as Green Prawns” hanging in the Beverly Hills outpost.
Highlight
For a bit of added entertainment the chef delights with a demonstration of how the Chow noodles are made (be warned – there might be sprays of flour) to rapturous applause from the house.
