Location
Enter Street Feast (Merchant Yard, Kingsland Road), take an immediate left and go up the stairs. There is no signage (so '13), but if you can't find it ask around and you'll be directed.
Vibe
6th form house party; the venue literally feels like a house, so dress appropriately (we dusted off the Stussy sweatshirts). Walk past the cool kids on the porch and enter the chalet-style front room. No pretension here, only good times. Finally, a bar that is fun!
Flavours
GIN-GIN-GIN. Following the uni-spirit trend, here it's gin only – and they have quite the selection. UJ tried to stay sober with the gin raspberry concoction (complete with kitsch striped cups and paper straws), but ended up first sharing, then hoarding, gin martinis. They are very, very good.
Tips
It's free to get into the Gin Store, but you have to get into Street Feast first, which is also free, but extremely busy. Avoid the queues by booking a table at Stripped Back by Ben Spalding (which is interesting – we like dining outside, but it's not filling so expect to hit the stalls afterwards, before gin o' clock). Alternatively, find 8-40 friends to book into the private room at the Gin Store.
Upshot
If you are sick of members' bars where no one talks, places that don't play music and cocktails that don't have a clue, then give this a whirl. It's fun, different and not around forever (until June 28) so hop to it. School's out for summer!
