The City File is your chance to get to know somewhere through the eyes of some of UJ’s faves. From chefs to DJs, our insiders will show you the ins and outs of their favourite places. Discover Vienna with multi-faceted Austrian producer MOTSA.

Hotel

25 Hours Hotel

It has great rooms and a fantastic breakfast.

Top tip: Have a drink on the rooftop terrace which has a lovely view over the city centre of Vienna.

Restaurants

Mochi

I love Japanese cuisine and they offer some fantastic dishes.

Top tip: Tori karaage (fried chicken!)

Anna & Jagetsberger

This is my extended living room during the week – I often come for the lunch menu because they cook with a lot of love and fantastic ingredients. They also offer great coffee and homemade cakes.

Top tip: Make sure to come at lunch, as they are only open during the day.

Zur Stadt Krems

If you want authentic Austrian cuisine in a very authentic environment, this is the place to come. Grab a famous wiener schnitzel with potato salad, a fresh “zwickl” beer from the tap and enjoy the vibe.

Top tip: They also have an old school bowling alley which can be fun.

Club/Bar

Werk

It’s a perfect medium-sized club with a good soundsystem and good parties.

Top tip: Check out the club’s own party series “Werk Statt Raum”

Luster

They have great drinks and bar food in a stylish environment.

Top tip: They also have great lunch menus!

Culture

Kunsthistorisches Museum

They are currently showing work from Mark Rothko.

Café

Jonas Reindl

I’ve recently become a big fan of specialty coffee and love making a good brew at home – Jonas Reindl roast their own beans and the result is TASTY.

Top tip: Grab a nice coffee and a cake in one of their two locations in Vienna.

Why do you love this city?

It has the best tap water, it’s very green, generally chilled, and still an affordable place to live with flourishing creative scenes.

Top tips for travelling here:

  1. Supersense – an all-analog shop – a blast from the past
  2. Enjoy the view over Vienna at Cobenzl Hill
  3. Take a tram ride around the ring road (or walk) to see the center of Vienna
  4. Chill on the “Donauinsel” in the summer and go for a swim

Don’t leave without buying to take home?
