Okay, so you're busy hollowing out pumpkins and all that halloween jazz, but take some time out at least to visit this rather grand new restaurant/supper club housed in the Old Truman Brewery.

The place has a rather hedonistic air about it (prepare for the experience by reading the new Hedonist's Guide To Life, why don't you - www.hg2.com) with the food, by Matthew Reuther, conjuring up visions of Babette's Feast. Go for the six course grazing menu, and you can choose two mini versions of each course from the al a carte menu - venison carpaccio with garlic mayonnaise and truffle oil, crispy bream with mussel fritters and fig tarte tatin, for instance. And if a plain old table to eat at doesn't float your boat you can have lunch or dinner in bed.

Wines are billed as Good, Great or Gorgeous, the cocktail list is classy and classic and they've also lined up some rather decadent entertainment - soul-jazz singer Alison David, performing her whimsically entitled Sit On My Face, and burlesque performer Empress Stah, swinging from the chandeliers, have both appeared so far.

Now if that's not something for the weekend, we don't know what is.
