Automat

There aren't many other places in London that do Americana as well as Automat. From the smoky jazz to the 1920's style wood-panelled diner section of the place and the black and white tiled floors, the vibe is all about as American as apple pie - with a bit of Studio 54 to come when the downstairs club/bar Almada (finally!) opens.

The perfect place then for homesick yanks, or anyone for that matter, to indulge in a Thanksgiving lunch with all the trimmings. A special menu has been introduced to mark the occasion so you can chow down on clam chowder, roast turkey with stuffing and cranberry and apple compote, maple-syrup roasted parsnips and, of course, good old apple pie.

If you really want to push the boat out arrive early and start the day with a few buttermilk pancakes and hash browns - how patriotic would it be, after all, to put on a few pounds in the process?
