Bermondsey Street is fast becoming one of the best culinary spots in London. Zucca is one of the originals and it’s still going strong. Ex-River Café chef patron Sam Harris serves up perfectly executed Italian fare at reasonable prices – venison ragu, octopus stew and roast halibut with salsa rossa being just a few examples. The sparse décor and open kitchen make the dining room a noisy place to be but, when the food’s this good, you won’t care what your fellow diners are saying. A local favourite with all the right credentials.
Top Tip:
Try the veal chop with spinach and lemon – an instant classic, it’s always on the ever-changing menu.
