Daily Coverage: Allegra Hicks

If the new grown-up approach to dressing - as shown by Marc Jacobs in New York - is going to be the key to the season; then Allegra Hicks hit the button right on target.

Her collection combined the elegant with the romantic, and featured all the key elements for Autumn/Winter 2007/08. Chic greens with a hint of blue, a range of damsons and plums combined with soft cosmetic shades and accents of black to create a colour palette of soft strength. This was a collection where everything flattered; from the subtle colour tones just mentioned, through to the crepes, georgettes and velvets, which fell in gentle folds or gently caressed the bodies curves before flaring, belling or flipping into movement.

Soft, nature-inspired prints included giant raindrops in layered tonal colours, tendrils of plants growing across shaded or shadowed surfaces and leaves in a variety of scales and treatments.

The lines and curves of nature flowed through the silhouettes into the details such as delicate ties, soft bows or lattice effect lace trims.

Seasonal trends such as capes, balloon sleeves and a slight nod to the 70s were all present but given the designer's personal stamp.

The audience featured many women who were mentally shopping as the show continued and with such a collection. who can blame them?
