Daily Coverage: Tata Naka

Eccentricity is a quality much valued by the British, but the seemingly random presentation of ideas by Tata Naka was difficult to understand as a statement of fashion. The stand out pieces ranged from a great grey knitted cardigan coat with self coloured re-embroidery, a sporty grey jersey dress with liquid gold pleated bands creating an empire line, and a fit and flare stiff gold brocade coat over a matching longer skirt, both with scalloped hems. This conveys some of the diversity of ideas thrown at the audience without continuing to the great dull blue crepe tuxedo detailed romper suit, or the softly belted coatdress in the same colour and fabric. Finally, mention must be made of the wonderful Pierrot dress in ivory and black silk satin. In the end it was as pieces rather than as a collection in the conventional sense that the show succeeded.
