Nip 'N' Tuck In
Dinner Cut

Facelifts, dontchya love'em. They never look quite right, however subtle - too much of this, too little of that.

There's some nip 'n' tuck going on in the restaurant world, however, that we do approve of.

Unless you've been heavily sedated you'll have heard plenty on Scott's hugely successful revamp, Richard Corrigan has done equally well with the other Mayfair old-timer Bentley's and Ronnie Scott's has been jazzed up too with a snazzy new members bar.

Next up is another legendary London landmark, Bluebird, whose first floor bar and restaurant have been redressed in more seductive and convivial garb and the food given a fresher, quintessentially British edge by chef Mark Broadbent - try the Longhorn steak tartare or the lobster, crab and crayfish cakes. With the recently added epicerie and clothes shop, and cool forecourt, the site seems destined to become the one-stop hangout of the summer.

The other King's Road institution that's not only had a makeover but has relocated to World's End is Pucci Pizza - I had an excellent American Hot there the other day - though some of its less lithe regulars could probably do with having a little work done themselves.
