Some poor Wal-Mart worker was trampled to death last week, squashed by over-eager shoppers at the start of a special one-day sale. Tragic, indeed, but anybody shocked surely hasn't been to an exhibition opening for a while.

Because when you see how people get this slightly crazed look in the eyes, scanning the room before bulldozing their way through for a glass of cheap plonk, then you begin to wonder how the number of fatalities was kept to just one, with bargain flat-screen tellies on offer.

In fact, one of this year's BAC festival exhibition posters, by Romain Laurent with people spilling out of the metro, starts to feel like a premonition of the free beer stand by 9 o'clock at tonight's opening. So while this is a don't-miss show with lots of fabulous stuff, I may decide to make it a don't miss-tomorrow show.
