Sweet Suite

Does anyone else receive those mystifying emails? The ones that read: "A-lister party at Aura... Join Xtina Aguilira getting Dirrrty!" Or, "Fashion party this Saturday, top catwalk moddels in their underwear... Dress to Imppress!" Or, "Nikita and Claudia are back from Ibiza. VIP guestlist. Cute crowd guranted!"

Those familiar with these missives may have noticed that many of these parties took place at the Penthouse, the kind of place where girls fantasised about meeting Scholes and Neville for a fantasy spitroast, and BB's Nicky might tout for business in her previous trade.

Thankfully someone with taste has taken it over - it was always an impressive site - transforming it into a nightclub deluxe. Skip past the bar and restaurant and head straight for the eighth floor Suite, a members' bar entered with personalised key cards.

Designed to emulate a lavish hotel suite - and let's face it, we all love those - incorporating a stainless steel kitchen from where the drinks are mixed, a bedroom, living area and entertainment centre with Playstation, it seems that London might finally be getting hip with the New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo kids in realising that, when it comes to bright lights and big cities, the only way is up.

  • Wine Chap's Wine Tips: Truffles & a Tutonic Tipple?

Fresh from the first ever German Premier Grand Cru tasting, as hosted by the infamous folks at The Wine Barn, it seemed apt that the Wine Chap should bring you this Teutonic special to whet your Euro-friendly palate…

  • Steaking A Claim

I was a vegetarian once. It was a dark time, filled with lentils, tofu, and things that grew out of the ground as if of their own volition. Then steak found me.

For carnivores seeking a quality protein high - there can be no better way to enjoy meat than in its purest, unadulterated form. Yes.. that means raw.

  • Ethiopian Kitfo

Ethiopian food has to be one of the most under-rated cuisines. Made up of tangy, spiced  lentil and chicken stews served on a delicious sourdough crepe called ‘injera’, it is one of my absolute favourites.

  • Beef Carpaccio with Horseradish Crème Fraiche

This is a lovely way to make carpaccio and would make a delicious first course for Sunday lunch. The lemon oil adds a really nice flavour and any leftovers can be drizzled over over roast fish or pasta tossed with artichokes and peas.
