History of News

1. Pre-14th century. Someone from another village tells you stuff that happened in his village. Travelling minstrels impart news alongside music and tomfoolery.

2. 1430. The printing press is invented by Gutenberg, and books and pamphlets are distributed throughout Europe. This leads to the Protestant Reformation and Enlightenment.
3. 1810. German printer Friedrich Koenig patents the first steam-powered printing press. The Times orders two in 1814.
4. 1839. the first electrical telegraph came into operation between Paddington and West Drayton.
5. 1960s. Internet begins.
6. 1990s. E-mail catches on as a widespread means on transferring information.
7. Late 90s. Newspapers go online. Blogging begins.
8. 2000s. Free newspapers boom across Europe - London gets at least four of varying idiocy.
9. 2003. E-bulletins are doing the rounds
10. 2004: newspapers including The Guardian reproduce pages online, exactly as they are laid out on paper.

11. 2007: Newspapers including The Daily Telegraph invite you to print out their special 'free' evening bulletins, to read on your way home.

The moral of all this:
Hell, more work. We now have to print Our Own newspapers. Like self-service restaurants and developing your own photos, the future seems very 19th century to us. Stick to Urban Junkies.
