Square Map of Q4
Anyone who has choreographed for the likes of Candoco and the Rambert Dance Company is bound to be pretty good at their job. Add to such critical excellence an affinity for visual design aesthetics and pop culture (he's worked variously with Kylie, Tina Turner, and The Kills), and the intriguing figure of Rafael Bonachela emerges. One of the Southbank's artists in residence, his latest work with his company, unsurprisingly dubbed the Bonachela Dance Company, is a tour de force of stunning visuals, taut emotions, and powerful choreography that is an absorbing treasure and a treat.

The Cool School: The Story of the Ferus Art Gallery
Most artistic scenes have their treasures: those galleries or groups that define if not fully embody the zeitgeist. Running from the mid '50s to the '60s, and associated with some of the finest and most central names in the Beat scene, the Ferus Art Gallery in LA was such a gem. Run variously by such infamous figures as Walter Hopps, Irving Blum and Edward Kienholz, this lively flick reveals the first gallery to devote a solo show to the young Andy Warhol, the inimitable Ruschas, Hoppers and Irwins who haunted its hallowed walls, and the mischief that they got up to.

Tate Modern, Bankside, SE1 9TG

Alexander Rodchenko: Revolution in Photography
So saturated is our society with photographs that it can be difficult to imagine how it could once have been a source of such artistic revolution. Working first as a painter, sculptor and graphic designer, the Russian avant-garde artist Alexander Rodchenko then switched his attention to the camera in the early '20s, applying a characteristic design aesthetic to the medium, and shaking the old- school to its foundations. Whether exploring architecture, individuals or political rallies, his dynamic points-of-view and attention to geometric forms helped create a new photographic language, and one that still feels unerringly modern.
