New kicks

The Olympics are nearly here, and what does that mean?

New trainers of course.

Whilst participating in the games takes years of effort, looking the part doesn't. And this is where Adidas new sneakers step in (pun intended).

The global trainer hawkers have re-released their 'Fencing' shoe, available exclusively from oki-ni. Designed originally for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the shoe is made from metallic mesh with vinyl and rubber trims, and if this sounds a bit Cyberdog, don't worry it's not.

They come in three exclusive colourways (including a cheeky little green and gold combination with stripes of yellow, blue and purple down one side), a fancy 'cut-out' sole and a fleece-lined tongue.

And if you're not fussed about those, check out the vintage 'Antelope' Olympic racing trainer. Launched at the 1968 Olympics in elk leather, the new limited edition version is now available in three shades of metallic leather.

Both shoes are very practical for the sportsman, but we don't really care about that. They just look lovely. Which, let's face it, is the most important thing.

And they'd look good in Athens or Angel.
