Marketing itself as London's first Japanese-style karaoke bar (which is a bit like saying 'Indian-style tandoori chicken'), Lucky Voice consists of nine private rooms - accomodating four to ten people each - and a communal bar.

As this is karaoke the 'classy' way, the rooms have Japanese-influenced red leather interiors while the VIP suites have gold ceilings and glass floors (we like!). And unlike the dog-earred laminate that might pass for a playlist down your local, all rooms have a touch-screen control panel from which you can browse a library of over 4000 songs. So if you still choose I Will Survive, you really should try harder.

Films by chainsaw-wielding Gordon Matta-Clark at Tate Modern. 6:30pm. Bankside, SE1. £4. 020 7887 8888.

Lush 'countrypolitan' sounds at Shepherds Bush Empire, W12, from Hem. 7:30pm. £14. 0870 264 3333 or here.

Sponsored by Vice - see the Sonar pictures

The control panel can also be used to vary the lighting or add vocal effects - because, let's face it, nature needs a little help sometimes.

Let the song in your heart loose without public humiliation. But next time you feel that primal urge - hey, just get a room.
