And here we are again. Le weekend. It seems like only yesterday we were putting up the bunting and eating clams… Despite the long weekend and mere three days of work, we’re still craving a chilled two days. Hence the trips to new eats Mazi and Donostia, a special brunch and a little inspiration for your summer break. Oh and a few parties, just for the hell of it. And if you’re out Ibiza way, then don’t forget (sorry) to check out the Amnesia opening party on Saturday.

EAT:
Mazi
  PARTY:
Found: A Red Bull Music Academy Special at Hidden

Classic Greek with a twist is the principle behind Mazi. Choose from Jars (grilled aubergine, cold octopus, tzatziki and Spanakopita), hot appetisers (feta tempura, slow cooked king prawns) and signature dishes (lobster with orzo pasta and Metaxa). They've also got a brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays - look out for the special Greek burger.   Another from Red Bull Music Academy, this time a special at Hidden. LA's Daedelus heads up the bill - expect more of his house, electronic and hip-hop influenced sounds - while RBMA grad Dorian Concept (hip-hop, funk and jazz infused electro), ex-Rinse DJ Braiden and Eglo Records label boss Alexander Nut offer up their eclectic sounds.

AGENDA PICK

Beard to Tail

If you want to be ahead of the foodie game, head to the Beard to Tail pop up next week for a sneak peek before the restaurant launches in September. The team behind cocktail institution Callooh Callay will be mixing drinks (try the Andy Warhol served in a Campbell Soup tin) and offering a suitably carnivorous menu of dishes such as the Rumpie-Pumpie for 2 (slow-roastedĀ Old Spot pork rump with all the trimmings) and pork feather blade with Hollywood flatbread. With just 35 covers (and no bookings), expect to queue à la MEATliquor, except with drinks while you wait. Our kind of queuing.

BRUNCH:
The Big Bordeaux Brunch

  PARTY:
A Night With…
Soul Clap at Loft Studios

There's nothing like a little Chateau and provincial brunch on a Saturday. The fabulous WineChap hosts a Big Bordeaux Brunch with Big Bordeaux Chef Pierre Koffman (of Koffman’s) who’ll be rustling up new and favourite dishes from the region. We’re hoping the Chicken Liver Terrine makes it onto the menu…   Boston party starters Soul Clap are back (we're seeing them everywhere this summer!), continuing their Efunk album tour. This time they'll be playing an eight-hour bonanza (more of their house heavy, funk, soul and hip hop inspired tracks) at converted factory Loft Studios. See them before they head off for their summer of fun in Ibiza as the new residents of DC10.

HEADS UP

PITT CUE CO TRAILER

The Pitt Cue trailer is back in business, and if the queues outside their Soho home are anything to go by, it’ll be as popular as ever. Tucked under the Hungerford Bridge on the Southbank, it’s not the most obvious spot, but just follow the crowds for a meaty feast (pulled pork, beef brisket, hot wings) and the infamous Pickle Back.

SUNDAY

EAT:
Donostia
  FILM:
Woody Allen: A Documentary

Basque cuisine hits London. Donostia, headed up by the former head chef of Barrafina, offers up a selection of pickings from Northern Spain and South West France (and plenty of wine). The menu is comprised of Pintxo (appetisers) like foie gras and baby octopus, Tapas - think fresh seafood cooked in Basque Pil-Pil sauce, pigeon, beef tongue and native pig Kintoa - as well as classics like tortilla and padrón peppers. Pull up a seat at the high bar and order one of everything.

A highly anticipated documentary on a cinematic icon, Woody Allen: A Documentary looks at the neurotic man behind the neurotic characters. There are revealing interviews from the likes of Diane Keaton, Martin Scorsese, Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and the man himself, as well as archive footage. Though he still remains schtum about the Mia Farrow episode…

12pm-3pm
Tapas from £6

  Times vary
£10
ICA, The Mall, SW1Y 5AH

UJ connects those in the know to create a Grey Goose Tastemaker family. Follow the Q&As, and discover who’s next in line…

Jsen Wintle

After shadowing a prominent Savile Row tailor and taking inspiration from his previous work in film set design, object and interior design, Jsen Wintle launched his eponymous menswear label Wintle in 2004. He quickly established a reputation for sophisticated masculine tailoring with a sharply modern point of view. He now splits his time between creative projects ranging from photography and filmmaking to designing restaurants.

UJ caught up with Jsen to get the lowdown on what tastes make him tick.
