FRIDAY

LUNCH:
KIMCHEE TO GO
  PARTY:
Soul Clap Records Showcase at Loft Studios

We’ve had love for Korea for a long time now (Psy…). So, we’re happy to hear that take-out Korean is a lunchtime option thanks to the latest Kimchee outpost on the Strand. Go for mix and match bibimbaps (rice, vegetables and meat topped with a fried egg), fresh noodle soups, bento-style dosirak boxes and kimbap rolls (Korea’s answer to maki). Sushi no more.   Hot off a stellar set at Soho Beach House during MMW, Soul Clap are back in London once again. This time they’re showcasing their new record label – it was only a matter of time if their stint teaching dance music at university is anything to go by. Punctuating the celebrations will be electronic funk kid Nick Monaco and the sexy slow-mo disco sounds of Night Plane among others. Clap to it.

IMS ENGAGE

If you’re California-bound for Coachella in the coming weeks (or you just fancy a last minute excuse to get away) then head to IMS’ first Engage event in LA. Like the Ibiza event, the LA edition will host conversations between important industry heads (Russell Simmons and Sony’s Head of Electronic Music, Pete Tong and Shelley Finkel, Diplo and Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom…) before a poolside after party at Drai’s. Plus, The W Hollywood is offering special rates.

SATURDAY

FILM:
SPRING BREAKERS
  PARTY:
Le Baron London

It’s finally here; Harmony Korine’s coming-of-age film for Generation Y.  If you’re not up to speed, it follows four college girls (you’ll notice two ex-Disney teeny bops) who rob money for Spring Break. Much like Kids before it, expect contemporary memes – namely day glo and a dub-heavy soundtrack – bikinis and James Franco with cornrows. Oh, and Opening Ceremony has just launched a Spring Breakers-inspired line.   The eternal question: oú est Le Baron? News just in is that it’s in London! The Parisian club is unpacking the disco balls and neon lights at what was formerly The Scotch of St James (a fitting handover). Expect a nu-disco take on its hedonistic ways, as well as weekly appearances from their French resident DJs and a darling crowd. Fingers crossed for karaoke. Now, about that door policy…

SUNDAY

BRUNCH:
No.11 Pimlico Road
  FILM:
Warhol on Film

The previous site of gastro-pub The Ebury has been given a new lick of paint. The perfect Sunday spot, come here to enjoy pastries, crostini and charcuterie at the marble cold counter; opt for a classic, hearty, breakfast or all-day brunch (poached eggs Benedict, blueberry pancakes, crushed avocado on sourdough); or simply go for gold with a roast. There’s also an on-site wine shop. Fuzzy heads should go for the Bloody Mary alternative, the Hello Sunshine, a concoction of sloe gin, Aperol, vermouth, honey and blood orange.   This weekend the ICA will screen three rare Warhol films that have been restored by MoMA New York and the Whitney Museum of Modern Art. All three were filmed on a newly purchased Bolex camera in the 1960s. Our pick is Vinyl, Warhol’s adaptation of A Clockwork Orange featuring Gerard Malanga and Edie Sedgewick. Other screenings include his most worshipped, Chelsea Girls (on Friday), to his strangest, Sleep (Saturday), a black and white 6-hour behemoth which focuses on a poet sleeping in his apartment.
