FRIDAY

EAT:
SOCIAL EATING HOUSE
  DRINK:
OSKAR'S BAR

We begin the weekend with two plush spots. The highly anticipated third restaurant from Jason Atherton opens this weekend (he comes via Singapore and Shanghai). Pollen Street's Paul Hood takes charge of the menu, which features hearty bistro-style fare such as his take on ham, egg and chips (with duck) and the CLT sandwich (crab instead of bacon). Head upstairs to The Blind Pig bar for Thermonuclear daiquiris, or downstairs for intimate 15-seater dinners at the "Employees Only" wraparound bar.   From Soho to Noho. Oskar's bar in Dabbous has a new spring menu – good news for those who are still waiting for tables booked back in '12. Order some bar snacks – faves include the famous coddled hen, farmed Oscietra caviar with puffed rye bread and barbecued shortrib beef with mushroom and molasses in brioche – before making your way through their fun, pun-laden cocktail menu. We'll be starting with a Squid Vicious (with rum, smoked treacle and squid ink) followed by IKEA sours and a Beetroot Marg. Points for their mezcal mix, too.

NEWS

Goodbye Disco Bistro

The end is nigh for our good friends Disco Bistro EC4. Come May 26 and our favourite pop up is no more, but in true disco style, this means some serious farewell parties. The rumour mill is already in full swing, predicting some top flight chefs set to heat up the kitchen (our money is on James 'Jockey' Petrie from the Fat Duck). One thing is clear – Disco Bistro ain't going without a bang. Keep checking their website for information.

EXHIBITION:
TAKEN BY STORM
  EAT:
AFGHAN MENU AT
THE DOCK KITCHEN

Then for a little fashion fill on Sunday. The cream of the world's model crop will hang off the walls of Joseph's Westbourne Grove store this weekend. Taken By Storm celebrates 25 years of Storm Models, exhibiting a selection of new images featuring Cindy, Cara, Kate and Jourdan, to name a few. Plus, you can pick up some new season Wang, Comme des Garçons and Margiela while you're at it.   Nibbles time. Now Spring is firmly in the air, it's time to get back to The Dock Kitchen. The menu, which is inspired by Stevie Parle's latest fascination with cookbook Noshe Djan: Afghan Food and Cookery, will run until April 27. Dine on pakora, tea pot soup with lamb kofte followed by slow-cooked pigeon and a spread of exotic salads. From April 29, the set menu focus will be on the queen of fish stews, Bouillabaisse.
