THE HOTEL HIT LIST

SUMMER'S HOTTEST OPENINGS

Blame it on Berners Tavern: hanging out in hotels is du jour. No longer the domain of out-of-towners, hotels are now hotspots for dining, drinking and dancing. This summer, London is getting a crop of big name hotel openings-from Shoreditch to the South Bank, here are the hotels on our radar.

The name on everyone's lips is Chiltern Firehouse. Yes, it's been making its mark in Marylebone for a few weeks, but with rooms opening for business in mid April and a terrace with al fresco dining imminent, it's this summer's hot ticket. Over in Mayfair, dynamic duo Corbin & King are slated to open their first hotel The Beaumont in a 1926 Art Deco parking garage. Expect a New York-style restaurant and bar, an inhabitable sculpture courtesy of Antony Gormley, and 73 rooms to rest your head should that all get a bit too exciting.

Now to Piccadilly Circus, where Firmdale's Ham Yard Hotel is throwing open its doors in June with an "urban village" ethos: alongside the suites, there's a 1950s bowling alley imported from Texas, complete with bar and lounge, and a Soho rarity: a rooftop garden. Down the road in St Martin's Lane is new private members' club Library with boutique hotel rooms complemented by a chef's table, and a wine and whiskey den.

Hot on the heels of the Rosewood, the Hoxton Hotel's Holborn outpost is due to open in late May. Expect 'comfy', 'cosy', and 'tiny' rooms, with communal spaces managed by the Soho House Group (a Hoxton Grill and Chicken Shop are on the agenda). Further east the Gansevoort is coming to Curtain Road in 2015, with a Meatpacking District aesthetic and its trademark rooftop pool.

Finally, Mondrian is bringing a South Beach vibe to the South Bank, with a Tom Dixon-designed hotel opening in June. It will boast a riverside bar (from the White Lyan crew), a brasserie, and rooftop lounge.

Bring on summer!
