The weekend starts now. We’re kicking things off with a farewell party tonight, Friday we pay a visit to Jamie xx in Dalston, and Saturday we’ve got dinner with London’s latest dream team. On Sunday, we’re checking out a sonic wonderland of chocolate, eating roasts and stocking up on brothel creepers. Enjoy!

Just when we were going on about
record stores closing, there’s this! Jamie xx has opened his pop up record store, Good Times Store. Offering up a selection of his favourite records, a bunch of the records he sampled for In Colour and limited edition signed copies of his previous albums, plus there are live radio broadcasts everyday. Get in quick, it closes this Friday, October 23. |

Last week it was an Australian/Italian fusion, now it’s Vietnamese. At CôBa, the ‘Australian-inspired Vietnamese’ menu focuses on barbecued meats, noodle soups and salads but with its own spin, such as fried buttermilk chicken and boozy cocktails. Our pick, if we had to choose, the spicy duck ramen washed down with the tamarind based CôBa Car cocktail. Oh, and if you want 50% off the food bill until November 7, quote Urban Junkies. |

We’ve always had a lot of love for Mission and its Californian inspired menu, but news of their new team and menu has thrown us another reason to return immediately. In charge of the menu is Australian chef Sebastien Myers (again with the Antipodeans!), previously head chef at Chiltern Firehouse, with the help of John O’Dowd of St. JOHN and Alex Casey of Viajante. On cocktails is Marcis Dzelzainis of Dandelyan and sommelier Cedric Maillard comes from Fera. Dream team, enough said!

|
A new cocktail bar has opened underneath one of our favourite bars, Casita. And, music to our ears, it’s by Casita’s head bartender Oskar. The new digs is as all bars should be: "no gimmicks, just banter and great booze". Expect a concise list of classics with twists, and a small edit of wine, beer and bubbles. Simple.

Love it or loathe it, Bond-mania has hit, meaning it’s martinis all round. Traditionalists should stick to the classic 007 martini: Belvedere vodka, dry vermouth and one green olive, shaken, not stirred. Simple. Or, shake it up with these
recipes.

A 007 twist has been applied to Belvedere's iconic Silver Sabre bottles. This bottle is an illuminated magnum which lights up with 007 etching - £170 exclusively at

This weekend the Goodhood store hits central, joining forces with London based counterculture clothing and accessory brand, Roundel, for a three-day pop up at Piccadilly Circus underground. Stock up on brothel creepers, tartan and anti-establishment slogan wares during the commute.

|
We’ve rowed across their punch bowls, boozed on their breathable cocktail bar, and now, gastronomical geniuses Bompas and Parr are back with their biggest exhibition yet - an entire institution devoted to their Willy Wonka approach to the history, evolution, science, sociology and art of food. Billed as “field to table, mouth… and beyond”, expect everything from a sonic wonderland of chocolate to an atelier of flavour dedicated to the English breakfast.

In a Sentence
The American Deep South hits Kingly Street.
Vibe & Decor
For a deep southern American barbecue, this spot is surprisingly sleek. Although the second venture from the team behind American restaurant The Lockhart, Shotgun has its own identity. This is where you should come for after-work cocktails, intimate catch ups, and even dates – a fine feat for a barbecue restaurant.
Flavours
With Mississippi-born Brad McDonald in charge of the menu, you know this is going to be the real deal. So don’t expect Bodean style dude food. The pimento cheese dip and devilled quail eggs were comforting starters and we’ll be trying the broccoli and cheddar soup on our next visit. The baby back Iberico ribs are seasoned (to perfection) with a homemade rub of cayenne salt pepper and smoked paprika rather than sauced, chicken is brined in black garlic and slow cooked, not fried and the mashed potato with homemade soured butter has no business being as good as it is. The bar, helmed by Matt Whiley, aka The Talented Mr Fox, makes this a drinks destination in its own right. We sampled the Lagniappe: mezcal with fermented celery, green onion, spiced with jalapeno bitters and chased with a supersized shot of beer – in a word, boozy!
Top tip
Sandwiches are available during the day, but later in the evening, they're knocked up from leftover ingredients. Eyes on the specials board for some inventive sarnies.
Highlight
The
1234 Donuts have made the transfer, with pineapple filling. Go!
