It’s the last long weekend for a while, so make it a good one. To start, we’re wining and grinding in Dalston before getting down and dirty in west London. Saturday, you’ll find us stretched under a pergola on a sunbed…in a car park (because, London!) before going tropical in Dalston. Sunday, it’s off to a mini-festival in Brockwell Park before channelling Miami circa 1982, via Brixton. But, if you do want to get out of the city for reals (and you missed our latest Travel Supplement), we’ve rounded up our top five travel destinations.

This Weekend’s Picks

DRINK:PARTY:
GENUWINEMAXILLA DOES BYE FELICIA

From last week’s magnums in a motorcycle garage to this week’s GENUWINE, is it just us or has the wine world gotten cool? Tonight, we’re hitting the tiles, pinot in hand, as GENUWINE, the R&B Wine Party, takes over Ruby’s Bar & Lounge. Daniel Willis from The Clove Club will be on decks pumping out R&B and hip-hop classics while sommelier Courtney Stebbings (River Cafe, Lyle’s) and Aimee Hartley of Above Sea Level have taken care of the killer wine list. Wining and grinding, here we come! The end of an era. Cult west London club night MAXILLA is coming to an end. And, doing what it does best, it’s throwing a Bye Felicia party. Go, play, dance, snog and say goodbye to the off-the-cuff club night held, well, whenever, in the Portuguese Working Man’s club in Westbourne Park. Buh bye.

EAT:PARTY:
Pergola on the RoofPalm Club Dalston

The former BBC Television Centre car park has been turned into a mega street food feast, with sweeping views of west London. Featuring the biggest temporary pergola in Europe, nab a sun bed before filling your plate from the line-up of street food traders including Salt Yard, LeCoq, Rabbit and Patty & Bun. Frozen margaritas, mai-tais and Tiki vibes. Sound good? Then head to Dalston’s latest pop up bar, Palm Club. Open from Thursday to Saturday, it’s nothing fancy, just a bar with a passion for all things tropical – y’know the look: green palms against pink walls, rattan furniture and ice cold fruity cocktails – we want the cocktail in a pineapple.
