EAT:DRINK:
Chick ‘n’ SoursTiger dram

If his Dalston digs are anything to go by, Carl Clarke’s second Chick ‘n’ Sours restaurant will be a flavour bomb of a dining experience. Aside from a menu of fried chicken (seasoned with ‘seaweed crack’), there’ll be spicy Szechuan nachos, hot and numbing disco wings, and the much-lauded Korean fried chicken bun. Oh, and sour cocktails. Or, if curry and whisky is more your thing, head to Tiger Dram, the hidden pop up behind the Cornish Tiger in Battersea. The 25-seater offers an interesting mix of artisanal whiskies to either complement or challenge the spicy sharing plates (the confit duck pav served with brioche and onion chutney sounds interesting). Simply rub the buddha’s belly and you’re in.

We know you’re probably clued up when it comes to whisky (Scottish vs. Japanese, whiskey/whisky, neat or with water), but if you’d like to go a step further and say, make your own, Chivas Regal’s ‘The Blend’ could be for you. The pop up whisky bar and ‘Art of Blending’ sessions will not only teach you everything you need to know (heritage, history, origins…) from industry experts, you’ll also be able to ‘blend’ your own to take home. #UJLoves the bespoke bottles.

EAT:PARTY:
BluebirdHendrix at the Scotch

‘Tis the season for nip and tucks (Quo Vadis, Rum Kitchen Notting Hill)… and now, Bluebird. Having closed for a six-week refurb, the Chelsea stalwart has re-opened unveiling its new look – trees, climbing plants, wild flowers, grasses and herbs, offset with bold Celia Birtwell fabrics and textures. The menu is said to be modern European and the wine list will focus on sparkling, natural and interestingly, English wines. It’s been 50 years since Jimi Hendrix played an impromptu gig at The Scotch Of St James. So, to celebrate, the rock ‘n’ roll den will be recreating some of the magic, with help from Jimi’s brother, Leon Hendrix, who will be playing Hendrix classics. Plus, for the rest of the night, DJs will be spinning nothing but vinyl. Tickets have sold out, but we’ve got a couple of pairs of tickets to giveaway. Click here to enter. Don’t be scared to dig out the leather trousers and flares for this one.
