Go West

Alex Morris Dezeen

Last week was all about Soho; now, we’ve got our eyes fixed on west London. From a big museum opening and some California lovin’ to an underground sea lagoon, this week, we’re going west.

First up, we’ll be starting our west crawl at the New Design Museum (#UJloves). Opened last week, the space is three times bigger than its previous home at Shad Thames, and new highlights include a cocktail bar (party!), a coffee and juice counter and restaurant Parabola, which promises great views and a rotation of global culinary stars. If you haven’t been yet, go!

Next, continuing the health-i-fication of Notting Hill (Farm Girl, Farmacy, Granger & Co, etc.) will be Pomona’s, a west coast-inspired all-day restaurant and bar, opening tomorrow. Dine on Cali-inspired dishes such as sweet potato toast, crispy pork belly with smoked polenta and shredded kimchi and lardo toast. Book a table now for 50% off food until December 2.

Finally, it’s off to see the kooky Bompass and Parr boys for their latest fantastical experience, Beyond the Waterfall, running from 9th – 23rd December. Inspired by the greatest adventures, heroes and icons in literature, from the prophetic sea god Glaucus to Aladdin’s Cave, expect to boat (yes!) across a 20m lagoon on small boats, passing through a real waterfall before arriving at the hidden cocktail cavern. All this at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush. This we’ve got to see.
