The Culturist

London’s cultural highlights this June

Summer’s finally here! We’re ready for Mangal Mondays with Berber + Q, Mario Testino x Helmut Newton, and Martin Morales’ turn on the Ceviche decks. For some shade, we’ll be headed down to Dulwich for the opening of the brand new Pavilion, or catching the Dustin Hoffman season at the BFI. Whatever you get up to, come rain, shade or shine, enjoy JUNE!

GO:
Gregory Crewdson at The Photographers’ Gallery
. . .
Don’t miss the first UK exhibition of Gregory Crewdson’s Cathedral of the Pines. Produced between 2013 and 2014, the acclaimed American artist leaves the suburbs behind and strikes out into the forest for an exploration of human connection and isolation. It’s also the first time The Photographers’ Gallery has devoted all three of its gallery spaces to one artist.
. . .
Opens 23rd June,
Opening time vary,
16 – 18 Ramillies St,
W1F 7LW

The BFI has been taking on some serious cinematic heavyweights for 2017 with Martin Scorsese and Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and they show no sign of letting up, with Dustin Hoffman Season taking over the Southbank screens for June and July. We’ll be digging deeper with All The President’s Men, Tootsie and the Oscar-winning Kramer vs Kramer.

Is there anything Martin Morales can’t do? This month the Ceviche chef and founder curates a one-off food and music mash-up, celebrating the capital’s most-loved flavours. Morales has gathered his favourite chefs and DJs together to cook up their favourite dishes and turn their hands to the decks. Gunpowder’s Harneet Baweja, Melissa Hemsley, Neil Rankin and Grace Dent will all be on-side, along with DJs Mister G, Andy Morris and DJ Yoda spinning plates and disks. And it’s one night only!
