Glamour and grandeur on the Euston Road
This part of town is scrubbing up nicely, and the interiors of the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel are at last a match for its supercharged gothic architecture. The Gilbert Scott bar, with its hand-painted ceiling, lashings of gold leaf, and colossal bell chandelier, must be one of the most beautiful bars in London. The negronis hit the spot, too. Make time for a drink here on your way to or from Paris – or Highbury & Islington, for that matter.
Top Tip:
For once, we don't recommend a seat at the bar. The tables to the left as you walk in are best for getting an eyeful of the decor.
