My Bubbles

The summer's en route, and you can practically hear the eager clammering for a glass of cold, crisp, refreshing sparkling, no?
The sleek new Crescent Champagne Bar that launched earlier this week is a prime example. Whilst they do make some rather lovely cocktails, their particular (and titular) USP is clearly heart-set on the ol’ champers. With that many potential Krug-quaffers, though, it's perhaps no wonder that they’re based in West Ken (I'm not saying Dalstonites couldn't afford it - but…)
So what to do if the Armand de Brignac Blanc de Blancs is a little out of reach for a Sunday afternoon tipple? Our beloved Wine Chap might regularly beat me with the “Prosecco-Over-Cava” stick, but if you've ever whiled away a balmy evening in Barcelona's wonderful Can Paixano, you'll know that free-flowing, cheap-as-chips (or cheap-as-boccadillos, in this case) cava is actually a byword for summer socializing.
And now, care of the Institut del Cava, today sees 20 of London's loveliest gastropubs start a summer campaign of 2-for-1 glasses of the lovely bubbly. El verano español just landed, amigos. And it brought a friend.

Comments:
Doubt your writers have ever been to West Ken. The Crescent was also forced to become a champagne bar when it didn't get a lap-dancing license.
