Wine Chap's Wine Tips: October
WineChap: Dehesa
Along with sister restaurant The Salt Yard and exciting new Covent Garden venture coming soon, Dehesa is one of the torchbearers of informal Italian/Iberian wining and dining in West London. They also boast a strong contingent of well-priced exotic varietals on the winelist (Godello, Lagrein, Verdejo Hondarrabi, etc.), rather than just your bog standard Pinot Grigio or Albarino.
Vintellect Tips
Their monthly wine pairing dinners, which are exceptional value at £40 a head, hosted by knowledgeable and personable sommelier Becky McKevitt should not be missed. See website for details of next one.

WineMate: Zucca
Opened this summer in Bermondsey to relatively little fanfair, Zucca is a proper gem, with an uncomplicated, well executed menu from Chef Sam Harris, ex River Cafe – who has taken their style and simplicity but not the prices and is also responsible for a great wine list. In fact Sam seems as passionate about his Italian wines as his cooking with a private wine dining room and walk in wine cellar all planned before the end of the year.
Vintellect Tips
Try the powerful Kerner from South Tyrolean Abbazia Novacello by the glass or for a red the excellent Rosso di Montalcino, a baby Brunello from the region's new star, Collemattoni.
