INTERVIEWS

Diana Findlay – Front of House / Graphic Designer

What is your happiest LFW moment?
I think my happiest moment is still to come this season as I have had a bigger hand in organising this On|Off due to the fire at the RAA. I'm really excited to see how it we pull it off in a new venue. And the graphic designer part of me was excited when the invites I designed were delivered this season, they look so cool.

And the moment you'd prefer to forget?
Packing everything into the van when we are breaking the event down because all the dressers have legged it - a lesson learned from last season.

What's the biggest challenge of your job?
Keeping calm and remembering everything I need to do. I've taken to writing lists - things just don't seem to stay in my brain like they used to.

What would surprise people about your role at LFW?
I am one of the main sponsorship seekers, design the graphics, organise the designers and front of house staff - and I'm only 24.

What are you looking forward to seeing most at On|Off this season?
I can't wait to see what Robert Cary-Williams. His shows are always interesting as you never quite know what he's going to do. I've seen a few bits of Esther Franklin’s collection too and I love it already.

Alexandra Byrne – Make-up Artist

What is your happiest LFW moment?
When a show is over, the girls looked stunning and the audience was very responsive. It’s then that I know my efforts procured a huge success.

And the moment you'd prefer to forget?
When most of the models are lining up with their first looks on and a girl runs in from another show wearing loads of make up and we have to get her ready in five minutes.

What's the biggest challenge of your job?
The preparation - organising which products from which sponsors are appropriate for each show, figuring out assistants, drawing up the face charts and making sure I’m completely ready. But once the shows are rolling I love every minute of it.

What would surprise people about your role at LFW?
That it’s such a multi-functional. On the day I have to manage my team and the models while concentrating on my own work and answering questions from journalists in front of TV cameras - all at the same time.

What are you looking forward to seeing most at On|Off this season?
The On|Off production team, as they are always beaming with energy and enthusiasm. In terms of designers, I can’t wait to see the progression of the talents with whom I have been working the last few seasons.
