Skive Away
On the dot

According to the TUC, over five million people at work in the UK regularly do unpaid overtime giving their employers £23 billion of free work.

It's also a well known fact that every year the employers spend this extra cash on a big tasteless party where they all sip champagne while laughing at us for being so stupid.

There is a way to redress the balance, however (and we don't mean by sending those evil emails you've been crafting in your drafts folder). Today is officially 'Work Your Proper Hours Day' (they kept that one quiet, didn't they...) which means you get to start on time, take a proper lunch hour, and leave on the dot. Yeah right, I know...

Seriously though, it's all bona fide and you even get to back it up with proper maths. You see, the TUC have worked out that today is when the average person finishes their 'unpaid' days (depressing) and starts earning for themselves (wahey!).

Personally, however, we would have fiddled the numbers to make our day in June when the weather is less likely to be quite so 'arctic' but that's just us being picky.
