I
wouldn't say that I'm lazy, but physical
activity has just never held much appeal. So I figure
that if I were ever to take up a sport, it'd be
yoga - the only discipline where lying down and
breathing can pass itself off as exercise.
|
 |
The
sole problem, of course, is that as I lie there on my
mat, half-dozing off, whether I'm dressed the part in
Turlington Nuala or not, people will rightly figure
that I'm really having a little siesta. No, I'll need
accessories that show my yoga-ing, just like surfers
have their boards and wetsuits.
The answer is Iyengar yoga. Unlike Madonna's punishing
Ashtanga power yoga, this type of Hatha yoga will have
you slugging ropes, belts, bandages, weights, boards,
and all other sorts of very yoga-ish stuff around to
let the world to see your intentions.
|
 |
Other
benefits are that these props make certain postures
easier to do correctly and that all instructors
need certification from the global Iyengar institute.
Should you also fancy a little lie-down, then
there's a rare intensive course that's also open
to beginners this Saturday.

de Ioga Iyengar de Barcelona
