…recently spending a week on the White Isle, we can confirm that the season is now well and truly open. And on the agenda this year for us (as well as others, more on that later) is a focus on wellbeing. Hikes, spas, sound baths: you name it, we’re mixing some yin with our yang. We’ve got our eyes on the recently launched Xscape Studio, and also drop in fit options. Other than that, this year we’re excited about names like Peggy Gou and Virgil Abloh – both feeling fresh on the isla, Bottega Il Buco – hot off the boat from NYC, and, once again, we love the non-tryhard glamour of Pacha.

IMS Highlights

We came, we saw, we had a great time!

Another year, another IMS! Our 10th (of 11) years in attendance, this year, it felt like there was definitely change in the air. Starting the conference was a heartfelt tribute by Pete Tong to Tim Bergling, aka Avicii – ‘we weren’t supposed to die chasing the dream’, he said – and the summit continued with topics that showed a real sense of ‘we have to look after ourselves, and each other’: things like mental health, sexual harassment, and parenting, along with other, more industry-focused topics such as the 2018 Ibiza Debate. On the party front, highlights included the Underworld Legends dinner at Heart, the Dalt Vila finale that included a B2B by Jackmaster and Peggy Gou, the opening parties, and the 25 Years of Sónar chat, celebrating the Spanish festival’s success. Another topic that resonated with us was how creative brands – including party brands like elrow – can expand globally while retaining their core DNA. It’s a question that’s definitely not unique to the music industry. Our conclusion, once again? Three days at IMS, whether you work in music, for a brand, or just like electronic music, is always time well spent.

New, New, New!

Check out what’s fresh this season

Want to know what’s new in Ibiza this year? Check out our website. As a teaser, there’s Idris Elba’s Sunday night residency at Lío, the Mambo family’s three (!) new hotels and two transfers: Beso Beach from Formentera and Bottega Il Buco from New York, both now with permanent residences in Ibiza.

Sir Joan Ibiza

Five-star boutique digs in the heart of Ibiza town

Opened late last season, Sir Joan is one of the new kids on the five-star block. A stone’s throw from Pacha, with harbour views, two restaurants, luxe accommodation and insider experiences, this is a great option for those wanting to stay in the heart of town.

Circoloco Turns 20

Celebrate good times!

20 years is an achievement for any business and in the case of Circoloco, it means it’s time to celebrate! The opening saw all the Ibiza heavyweights (25 artists), and the rest of the summer will continue in a similar vein. If you’ve never been before, expect great talent, a killer (new, custom) soundsystem, and outdoor raving til midnight. If it’s a Monday night and you’re in Ibiza, there’s nowhere else you should be. And now with Cocoon moving to Wednesday night at Pacha, there’s really no excuse. See you in the Terrace; check their Facebook for lineups.

Walking Ibiza

Hit the hills

You’ve heard it before: there really is another side to Ibiza: the beautiful, wild, nature side. But unless you know your way around, it’s difficult to figure out where to go. With Walking Ibiza, choose guided hikes based on routes, duration and difficulty. They also have community walks if you feel up for making friends, kayak tours and foodie walks. Feel like a challenge? Toby Clarke runs a walk-around-the-island challenge, shorter, four-day challenges and team bonding trips. Toby has a wealth of knowledge, pointing out everything from wild garlic to curry plants, so you’ll definitely get your money’s worth – and then some. Book now!

Pacha

All Eyes On Pacha

The refurb looks great

Who doesn’t love less VIP and an XXL DJ booth? Pacha’s refurb has given the club a gloss over, and it’s a good one! Sure, we miss some of the old finca-style bars (when you walk in), but the Pacha spirit remains the same, and the dance floor feels more fluid. Key nights this year are, of course, Wednesday for Cocoon, Friday for Labyrinth, and Sunday for Solomun + 1.

Casa Maca

Ibiza’s newest agroturismo is one to watch!

The Anadons, otherwise known as the Café Mambo family, have opened not one, not two, but three hotels this year, and leading the way on our hotel-dar is Casa Maca, their finca-style agroturismo. Rustic vibes are sky high here, with the main house being a 300-year-old farmer’s house that’s been restored, complete with antique trull (aka olive press) still intact. The grounds are vast, rooms simple but spacious (each with its own terrace), and the F&B will have that usual Mambo flair. We have our eyes on their version of an eggs benedict – spied on Instagram – that would be worth the trip alone.

Plus Ones

The names we’re excited about this season

Yes, you’ve heard of all the big names in Ibiza, but this year we’re excited about the new ones! A recent last-minute special guest at Blue Marlin, with Pete Tong and Black Coffee – Virgil Abloh – felt fresh, as does the ever charismatic Idris Elba at Pacha-owned restaurant/cabaret Lío… if there was ever going to be something to get us to Lío, Idris would be it! Lastly, DJ Tennis, a big name in the States, less so in Ibiza, is on more line-ups than we’ve seen in years past. Three nice guys injecting a much-needed fresh spirit to the Ibiza scene: we approve!

Los Enamorados

Movies under the stars

After being one of the first to discover Los Enamorados, stumbling upon it (the nose knows) before it opened when we were at The Body Camp years ago, we’re embarrassed to say we STILL haven’t made it to stay here. BUT we have watched the Instagrams come in, fast and furious, and heard rave reviews from friends with good taste. If you’ve also seen photos of their idyllic cove in Portinatx, you’ll know that their movie nights are a thing to travel here for. Leave your email on their instagram if you want to be updated (next movie is Sunday, June 17).
