… like just yesterday was IMS! And now, again, it’s closing time. Never fear, there’s still time to get a last trip in. End of Sept really is one of the best times to be on the island; the crowds have thinned out, and locals are coming out. For a complete list of closings, check out Ibiza Spotlight. We can’t wait. And just as a reminder, if you want to join us for closings, enter URBANJUNKIES into the promo code box for 15% off at OD Talamanca.

See you on the dancefloor.

Ibiza Delivers

News

The latest from the White Isle

First up, for those of you who shed a tear at the news that Teatro had closed, it seems to have found a new home (early August) in the recently renovated Puerto Ibiza Hotel and Spa. Same great music, new surroundings, every night from midnight, with a ‘movie terrace’ that’s open from 8AM til late. And over at Ibiza Delivers, they’ve launched a ‘Deli’ service, where you can choose from a large selection of finger foods, so you can entertain, dine, or pack a picnic without breaking a sweat. 48 hours’ notice needed.

Dior

Big blingin’

It was only a matter of time until the big guns headed to Ibiza, and joining the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Bvlgari in Marina Ibiza is the new (this year) Dior pop-up. Open until 30 September, should you need some last-minute designer wares, they have men’s and women’s beachwear: we have our eye on the Ibiza tote. If you can’t make it to Ibiza in the next two weeks, they also have select Ibiza items online.

It’s a Farm Off

Central and north-east island options

Ibiza has always been known for its organic/biodynamic side, but this summer especially, the offering seems to be on overdrive. The two newbies we’re most excited about are the farms at Casa Maca and Atzaró; both have great gardens that supply fresh veg to their restaurants. Get in quick! And if you’re on the island this Saturday, book in for Casa Maca’s full moon dinner (from 8PM).

Hotel Alert

One to check out

So, Thomas Cook has been smart in not making the ‘Thomas Cook’ part of their new line, Casa Cook, that apparent, and the new one in Ibiza is a refreshing addition to the island. More Tulum in style than the usual Ibiza finca, the décor seems to be concrete, straw and wood, with a muted palette and pared back vibe. The wellbeing offering looks good – spa (with rituals, again very Tulum), pool, gym with classes and trainers – and the rooms look calming. Complementing other new venues close by – La Torre and Cala Gracioneta – these newbies are making up the new San An.

Take a detour

As long time Ibiza fans, we love the Balearics. Ibiza, yes, we go. Mallorca, yes, we’ve been a couple times. But Menorca… we’ve never known where to stay! Now we do. Run by an artist from London and his Slovenian wife (who is a writer with a PhD in Philosophy), Hotel Fragile is a stylish five-bedroom abode in the heart of the old town, Ciutadella. Here you have quaint restaurants and bars, historic sites, and you’re five minutes from the port and urban beaches. And with temperatures staying at a healthy 20ish in October and more beaches than Mallorca and Ibiza combined (so they say), what are you waiting for?

Rebüke Playlist

Turn it up!

So this year, it really felt like Rebüke unleashed a new Ibiza sound (we love). Backed by support from heavyweights like Pete Tong, he’s definitely been a 2019 name to watch. For a taste of his residency at Privilege’s Vista Club (Solid Grooves FCUK THE FAKES, every Sunday until 22nd Sept.), press play.

Favourite Ibiza spots by Serena Cook

We always take note at what’s on Serena Cook’s Ibiza’dar (she’s the founder of Ibiza’s top concierge, Deliciously Sorted, after all). So when we saw Condé Nast Traveller recently publish her 2019 Ibiza address book, we read with interest. In it were several of our faves (Macao Café! Pacha restaurant! Taller de Tapas!) with a couple newbies to us (Roto and Laylah) too.

Talamanca

New dining options

By now you know we are Talamanca fans. Close to Dalt Vila, local vibes, boardwalk to run on… and now there are two new dining options from the well-known hotels on the Talamanca strip. At OD Talamanca, their gorgeous Sky Bar, with amazing views of the port and Dalt Vila, is now open for dinner every night from 8 (until Sept. 22, weather dependent). And at Nobu Ibiza Bay, their new Bay Café is a healthy offering. From turmeric smoothies and açaí bowls to organic poached eggs with Iberian ham and truffle oil and a selection of organic wines, you’re in good hands here.

There are straw hats and there are straw haaaats. This is the latter. There are still some key pieces floating around from the Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza collection, so surf around.

Book a Flight

A very last min trip

If you haven’t gotten yourself back to school yet, so to speak, hop a flight and check out the Pikes Literary Festival. Now in its second year, it’s on now until tomorrow (so yes, act QUICK), with readings, panel discussions, and of course evening shenanigans (Rock Nights at Freddie’s is on tonight).

Two mags to peruse

Spotted: Two new mags on the island. Nativ, the new mag edited by UJ fave Maya Boyd, has the tagline Live Local, Think Global. We loved the cover of the first issue, and at 180 pages, it’s a tome, so you can use it as a weight after. On the opposite end is the digi Box Ibiza. With Glitterbox’s Raven Mandella on the digital cover, this one is great to check out, even for the fancy tech alone.
