Dashboard Hula Doll

It's getting warmer outside and sales of cider are going through the roof, which can only mean one thing: festival season is upon us. But if you missed out on the rush for tickets, or if you simply need a warm up to the big event, then you might want to consider the three mini-festivals taking place this weekend.

For the more leftfield tent-dweller Faster Than Sound looks like the obvious option. More a 'sound experiment' than a traditional festival, FTS is all about sonic experiments, weirdcore and immersive installations.

However, if you don't fancy immersing yourself in any weirdcore, then the Festival of Sins in trusty old Camden might be a better alternative. The debauchery-themed clubnight kicks off this weekend with its Lust night, complete with corset fashion show and saucy cabaret.

Personally I'm going to pass on the erotic clubwear, and don my Hawaiian short for the London Luau, which begins tomorrow tonight with a Tiki artshow and then hula dances its way through the whole weekend via Mahiki, Trader Joes, Trailer Happiness and even an alternative London boat race in dug out canoes.

Zombie cocktails, Polynesian dancing, dug out canoes! It's what sunny London summer weekends were made for (ok, maybe not the canoes bit).

London Luau - June 8-10
Faster Than Sound - 6pm to midnight Sat June 9
Festival of Sins - 8pm to 3am Sat June 9, get a flyer for £6 entry (£7 on the door, £5 before 9.30pm)
