As much as I love the haphazard escapades of Celebrity Masterchef, Great British Menu beats it for me by a long shot. What foodie in their right mind wouldn't want to watch a bunch of top chefs getting hot and sweaty, fiercely competing with one another to be number one? And - the best bit - with Gordon Ramsay nowhere to be seen.

While a victorious Mark Hix (who won for both his main course and pudding for anyone crazy enough to have missed it) is currently off crayfishing in Gloucestershire with gourmand-of-the-moment Alex James, not to be outdone, Mark Broadbent of Bluebird and Jeremy Lee of Blueprint Cafe are showcasing their own menus in their respective restaurants.

At Bluebird you can order course by course, from the salad of duck livers and hearts to the aged mutton - the best part of which are the incredibly moreish 'park railings': crispy bits of mutton deep-fried in breadcrumbs - and finish off with the strawberry knickerbocker glory.

While at Blueprint Cafe you can take over the best table in the house (number 59 which has spectacular views over the Thames) and go for the whole shebang - from the wholesomely briny broth of Scottish shellfish to fillet steak with pickled walnuts and horseradish - with wines to match. Bring your own scorecards.
