‘Detail’ is the name of Sado’s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, and you can tell this is something designer Carlotta Gherzi has thought a lot about. An accessible yet elegant collection of everyday modern wear, many of the pieces could easily be mixed and matched. Her bolero tops could be worn either as a backless tops or transformed into shawls and were showcased as both. ‘I wanted to show that people could still be trendy in this new economic climate… but mix that with timeless pieces’, she explains.

This was a very clean and precise collection featuring tailored silhouettes in the form of jackets and coats, which were contrasted with more flowing pieces, such as loose tops and harem pants.

Shades of chocolate brown, steel grey, deep red and mustard, inspired by the colour palette of Gustav Klimt lent a richness to the collection. Gherzi’s philosophy is ‘quality and sophistication’ and the luxurious fabrics held testament to this. Cashmere, wool and silk satin not only look fabulous, but also feel great against the skin. ‘I hope my clothes will make the women who wear them feel beautiful, but also comfortable’, she said.
