If
you've been to Bailén 22 after it reopened as
Lotus, then you'll understand why I got a bit excited
when learning that women, of the paying kind,would be
welcomed at another former puticlub. |

The
excitement lasted until I realised that El Rinconcito
was now merely a swingers club. And that, to me, has
always seemed like a cheapskate's whorehouse - rather
than shell out for the real thing, bring your own and
hope to swap it for something better.
It has its fans, of course. "Breathing new life
into an old sweater," a girlfriend of mine told
me, bored in the confines of her twosome. I don't know
about you, but when I get tired of a garment, I either
toss it or accessorize, I don't have all my girlfriends
try it on to see if that makes me like it more. |

So
this weekend I'll be a prude and go solo, more
precisely to Club Solo, which is the latest attempt
at breathing new life into Galería Gastronómica.
It hasn't gotten any subtler or more tasteful
with the years, but sometimes OTT is definitely
preferable to on the cheap.
