This weekend we party – ‘tis the weekend of Lovebox, after all. With that in mind, we have an after party, the official closing party and the not-so-official party. Plus, we’re raging on gold and hitting up the Kopparberg Forest. Food wise: a boozy lunch at Chiltern Firehouse, a soul food blow out, and a Carnaby street feast is on the agenda. Oh, and we’re going back to the future – for real. Enjoy!

TONIGHT

Rage on Gold Live: "Big sounds, Big Statements and Big Rage"

Join us tonight at Notting Hill Arts Club (RIP YoYo) for Juicebox, home to tomorrow's stars, to check out RAGE on GOLD's London debut! As you may recall, this was the standout act from IMS Ibiza. Think electronica with the attitude of punk; the spirit of RoG is like "the sound of Giorgio Moroder trashing a hotel room with the Beastie Boys and Blondie". Nice. All we can say is, big tings! See you on the dancefloor.

Juicebox, Thursday 17 July, 8pm-2am, £5 before 11pm, £6 after,
21 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3JQ

A heatwave, some cider, and an open-air forest is the plan for le weekend. Tonight at the Kopparberg Forest, we’ll be partying to the sounds of Gavin James, The Boxettes, and Project Fresh Socks. Tomorrow night is all about Whales in Cubicles, some pop-tastic anthems from I Love DJs, followed by former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes. And then onto Saturday, and it’s a big ‘un – we start with a bit of Hip Hop Karaoke, followed by headliners Little Dragon who will take to the decks for a DJ set. Sunday, the Lovebox afterparty kicks off featuring The Doctors Orders…and breathe.

FRIDAY

EAT:
Chiltern Firehouse
  Party:
DIMENSIONS FESTIVAL: FRIENDS AND FAMILY PARTY

And we’re still talking about Chiltern Firehouse. The hotel has just upped the ante on the boozy Friday lunch, now that it's officially open for weekday breakfasts and lunches. Nab a spot on the terrace and order from its simple but carefully selected menu: mushroom tartine with Swiss chard, roasted cauliflower hearts, and blackened salmon salad. Alternatively, start your day with a spiced crab omelette or poached eggs served with beef and vegetable hash. And just like that, The Wolseley has gotten some stiff breakfast competition.   We can never resist an unofficial after party, especially when thrown at the Ace Hotel’s basement club, Miranda. To celebrate the third instalment of The Love Below and to say bon voyage to DJs comm•une before they head off to Dimensions Festival, the Ace has put together a shimmy-inducing line up for the folks who want to keep the party going after Lovebox. And if a party at the Ace isn’t enough to tempt you, their promise of a ‘big special guest’ just might. Make sure to RSVP here, space is strictly limited.

EAT:
The Bayou SOUL
  SHOP:
Hill Valley Shops

Adding to the American soul food trail in Camden (Blues Kitchen, Q Grill) comes The Bayou Soul, an all-day Creole bar and restaurant. Come here for ‘light bites’ of po’ boy sandwiches, smoked chicken wings, and beef croquettes, or if a heavier Southern blow out is what you’re after, try the crayfish gumbo or smoked ribs. Alternatively, come here after a night out and feast on their after-hours menu of all things smoked, fried and dripping. Healthy eating, this is not.   Now it’s time to Go Back to the Future… literally. Until the end of August, 59 Hackney Road will turn into Hill Valley thanks to Secret Cinema and their recreation of the iconic shops from the Spielberg classic. Start the day with some burgers and shakes from Lou’s Diner, followed by some old school record hunting and vintage picking from Roy Records and Ruth’s Frock Shop. Unfortunately, hover boards and Reebok pumps will not be sold – yes, we asked.

SHOP:
V&A Fashion Pop Up
  PARTY:
THE Lovebox FINALE

Stray from the High Street pickings of Regent Street, and check out the V&A’s Fashion Pop-Up. Celebrating the museums latest exhibitions (The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 and Wedding Dresses 1775-2014), the one day pop up will offer accessories, jewellery, books, and prints, all in the name of high octane fashion. Capri summer wardrobe? Yes please.   Nothing quite like a bit of a Sunday knees up, especially when it involves a good ol’ music battle. The last of the Lovebox ‘After Dark’ parties sees the two big London DJ crews Horse Meat Disco and Love Fever go head-to-head at the Oval Space. Plus, there’s a special guest, and it’s not a secret – David Morales will be hitting the decks for the official day-to-night closing party. Lovebox done!

WEST LONDON FOR THE WIN!

Album of the Week: JUNGLE

Image from @wmag

First there was our feature on the comeback of West London, then there were supporting features in i-D, followed by confirmation of KTZ's studio in the west, and now this – Jungle. Hot off the album press, this West London band isn't a throwback act, but a fresh energetic group, storming the scene. Their performance at House Festival had us from the get-go. This isn't a group bored by what they do, this is a band up there rocking it. Electronic music with style, funk, pop and a late night attitude.
