Bar Douro’s Portuguese Wine Series

Food & Drink

This event has ended.

Bar Douro is already a Borough favourite at UJHQ, and their new series will see acclaimed wine expert Sarah Ahmed lead a series of ‘In conversation with’ evenings with leading Portuguese wine makers, showcasing the diversity and dynamism of Portugal’s vibrant wine culture – a topic vastly underrepresented in the UK. The first wine dinner kicks off with a conversation between Portuguese and English Winemakers, whose Douro Valley roots go deep – more than 200 years. With over 40 vintages in the Douro under his belt, Johnny Graham – founder of Churchill’s Port – will talk about his experience exploring this mountainous, multi-faceted region’s terroir. He will be joined by his son Max, owner of Bar Douro, who is set on championing the region’s profile here in London. Future conversations in the series will include: A Celebration of Baga – in April 2018, followed by an evening with Filipa Pato and William Wouters in May 2018 and Vasco Croft and Tiago Sampaio in June 2018 and finishing with award-winning winemakers Susana Esteban and Sandra Tavares da Silva. Has there ever been a better excuse to book in? No!
