Luke Scanlon

The St John at Hackney Brewery co-founder

Details

As the co-founder of the newly opened St John at Hackney Brewery, it’s fair to assume that Luke Scanlon has a few tips on what and where to drink this summer.

Favourite place in Hackney?

I’m a big fan of the Chesham Arms. Lovely beer garden and a real mix of all the random characters that make Hackney great.

Can you recommend us somewhere we probably haven't been?

Del74 on Clapton Road. Great Mexican food, good value, good vibes.

Where do you go for an al fresco drink?

The rooftop bar at The Curtain is great.

What do you order at the bar?

This summer I’m obsessed with Compass Box’s ‘Artist’s blend’ whisky with aromatic tonic. In terms of beer, I’m a big fan of Cwitch Red Ale by Tiny Rebl.

Favourite London restaurant?

Smokestak for the beef brisket.
