Neil Campbell

Head Chef at ROVI

Details

Ottolenghi’s new venture ROVI is back open after some technical issues, and to celebrate, head chef Neil Campbell reveals his London hangouts and gives us some foodie insights.

Where do you go for veggie food in London?

I discovered Buddha Bowl a few years ago at Wilderness Festival and followed their kick-ass kale infusions back to London. Street food is massive these days! Find Buddha Bowl at Whitecross Market, just off Old Street.

Which chef should we be watching right now?

Ramael Scully of Scully in St James’s Market. There is no other restaurant in London cooking and combining flavours like this guy. It’s a must for any true foodie.

Which ingredient should we be eating this summer?

Vegetables. It’s not just one about ingredient, it’s about ‘root to shoot’ cooking of all vegetables! Home grown: even better. Think zero waste: pickling, fermenting, boiling, charring. The future’s green…

What's your all time favourite London restaurant?

St. John in Spitalfields or Trullo in Islington. Both do “posh peasant food” that lifts the soul and feels familiar yet elegant at the same time.

What's your local?

The Camberwell Arms is a worthy cycle from my flat in Brixton. It’s always heaving and noisy and has bar snacks fresh from the flames!
