Freak Scene's Australian head chef

After trying out his buzzy new Soho restaurant Freak Scene a few weeks back, we chatted to acclaimed Australian chef Scott Hallsworth about his favourite London spots.

Who is your chef to watch right now?

DJ BBQ is always doing something interesting, and I’m looking forward to checking out his new cookbook now the sun is coming out!

What’s your all-time favourite restaurant in London?

St. John in Farringdon has been brilliant since day one. I’d go there any time, any day.

Where do you go to celebrate?

Any one of the London summertime festivals – music, food and the odd glass of Pimms, the perfect combination for a celebration.

What’s your local?

The Balham Bowls Club.

What should we order at Freak Scene?

I recommend 3-4 dishes per person, and make sure you try the miso-grilled black cod tacos and the chicken-fried chicken. For drinks, start with a cocktail for sure, and we’ve got some special new world wines which work well dishes across the menu.
