The Lowdown:

Casa Pueblo launched in summer 2018, opening the doors to a modern, understated boutique hotel in Tulum, two miles from the beach, and the first collaboration from Derek Klein and The Umbrella Project co-owner Andy Kerr.

The Facts:

Casa Pueblo Tulum is the Yucatán town’s first stay-and-work hotel, which might not initially feel in line with Tulum’s bohemian, tropical aesthetic, but with its pared-back interiors and hacienda-style open-plan rooms, we can see it working. The Umbrella Project (Discount Suit Company, The Sun Tavern) have worked their magic on the bar and restaurant menus, bringing in local ingredients to lead the focus (hibiscus, agave, almonds and mezcal dominate the drinks menu), and there’s a rooftop bar and lounge due to open in 2019 for when work’s over for the day.
