Originally built as the private home of an Italian duchess, Hotel Esencia sits on the edge of the Yucatán jungle, next to the Xpu-ha Beach – one of the last undeveloped shores of the Mayan Riviera.
The Facts
In addition to the 50-acre estate, eleven new suites have now opened on the historic property, with six beach suites leading directly on to the sand and five jungle suites set back from the coast. Located in the midpoint between Tulum and Playa del Carmen in Mexico, it’s hard not to be sold on the hotel’s charms: the bay of Xpu-Ha is immaculate and a natural haven for sea turtles, far away from the larger resorts.
