SHOW REPORTS

Robert Cary-Williams

The enfant terrible of LFW took the title of his show Don't Believe Everything In The Papers quite literally for S/S 07 and made some dresses out of, yes, you've guessed it, paper. Not next day's chip wrappers though you'll be glad to hear - the red tops here replaced by hand made art paper covered in paint splashes and twisted into mini gowns. These show stoppers sit among a gothic display of black jersey dresses, sequined corsets and a variety of draped creations in taupe, cream and brown. Cary-Williams also creates sculptural stuffed humps on backs and bums from what looks like tin foil. The press gift a big black plastic raven sums up the show perfectly. Look, but don't touch.

Allegra Hicks

With Trinny Woodall plus a rum selection of exceedingly blonde trout pouts in the front row, it must be time for the Allegra Hicks show. This season she takes Swinging London and plonks it in India for a collection of heavily embroidered ethnic prints, contemporary kaftans, balloon shorts and rain coats in sunflower yellow, turquoise and royal purple. The demure daywear then gives way to some rather quite foxy LBDs with gold organic drops hanging down the back, some BIBA-inspired full length gowns and Lily Cole getting her Twiggy on in a gold lame bomber jacket. Rev up the Mini Cooper, we're off to Carnaby Street.
