It’s a sign of the times, I guess, that a boutique supermarket feels like the (soft) launch of the year, and London’s latest social hub. More so than, say, any member’s bar right now. If you’re just back from an extended Glastonbury, hope you’re easing into the week. That’s it!
Stay cool all. ☀️ Have great weeks everyone.

 | | | | 90s | Events, Vibes, Flashbacks | | If this summer so far has felt like a 90s flashback in every area of life, this month truly brings it home with the Oasis Wembley tour dates. Don’t have a ticket? The EDITION’s Berners Tavern is having a Brit Pop and Oasis summer special this Friday – the last night of their Live at Berners dinner series – where a live band will play greatest hits. Further west, the Fat Badger, with their rollicking live music nights, has brought a very 90s Notting Hill vibe back, and when we walked past the old LAB Bar in Soho the other day, we couldn’t help but think, a Porn Star Martini wouldn’t go amiss!

 | | | Hotel Brands Doing Villas | Service with a smile | | Not a fan of villas because there’s too much actual work involved? If budget were no option, here are a few luxe ones, that also make it easy. Belmond have just launched their first villa property, Villa Beatrice in Portofino, which has four suites, a separate one-bedroom in a stone cottage, a bar that can host up to 30 people for an event, a butler and private chef, and guests have access to the spa at Splendido. Mandarin Oriental have a handpicked selection of homes in several destinations including Ibiza, Mallorca, L.A, Puglia, Bali, and Umbria, to name a few, that are serviced with M.O. services and experiences. Relais & Châteaux have a villa/vacation rental selection, and the Four Seasons has several different options for villa rentals, too.

 | | | | | Lupa | Around Town | | Events
This Saturday, Carousel are doing another one of their PAIRED events (music and cuisine), this time, at Tate Modern’s Corner Bar, with Hot Chip on the music and Carousel’s co-founder, Chef Ollie Templeton, on the menu; tickets here. On 10 July, Michelin-starred chefs Yannick Alléno (Pavyllon) and James Knappett (Kitchen Table) are cooking together for a six-course ‘Counter Culture’ dinner.
Where We Want to Go
Lupa! Italian in Highbury, with Ed Templeton and Theo James behind it. And Singburi Shoreditch.
Where We Loved
Yes, One Club Row is as good as it’s been hyped to be. Our recommendation: sit at the bar and work your way through the menu. Highlights for us were some classics: French onion soup, cheeseburger “au poivre”, and schnitzel and frites with aioli – but don’t leave without trying the pickled japapeño gougères (which felt like a nod to the Cheez Whiz summer snacks of yesteryear) and the NY cheesecake. Start with a drink at the pub downstairs, then head upstairs and settle in. The dining room gets great sunlight, too. A special space.
Deals!
Not usually a word you see here, but a few have caught our eye. Ekstedt at The Yard is doing a three-course version of the Scandinavian tasting menu on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with early seatings (between 6-7pm) for £59. Breadstall in Soho is doing a quarter pizza and a frozen margarita (is there anything better?) for £14. And Arlington are offering two- and three-course menus on the weekend.
And lastly…
abc Kitchens at The Emory is now doing brunch, which will include the B.E.C bacon and egg pizza and ginger and strawberry margaritas. Not all brunches are bad, it seems! The Shoreditch listening bar, Mad Cats, has a great small plates Asian/Lebanese-inspired menu. And congrats to Amy Poon, who will be opening her first permanent restaurant at Somerset House in September, an evolution of her family’s legendary Poon’s restaurant, still serving Chinese home cooking; we can’t wait!

 | | | | | Nick Jones’ Latest Launch | I take you to the Corner Shop | | You’ve likely seen Nick Jones’ latest creation, the Corner Shop, on 7 Arundel Street. After our brief runaround, it seems to have filled a real gap in the London food-scape. It’s fast (takeaway counter of hot dishes), well curated, with some health (fresh juices), as well as wines, pre-made dishes and baked goods. What we weren’t expecting, though, was the fun – bright, woven Yinka Ilori chairs and tomato cans for napkin holders – feels like quite a leap from the usual Soho House design; a very refreshing change.

 | | | | | The Louis | Global Art News | For your radar | | Visionary Journeys, Shanghai
Louis Vuitton’s Visionary Journeys exhibition in Shanghai is in the hull of ‘The Louis’, the incredible boat-like structure they’ve recently moored in the business district. The ‘boat’ also has a flagship store and Le Café Louis Vuitton. This follows their NYC trunk tower; they’re on a roll with crafting structures with impact!
Liverpool Biennial
A little closer to home, the 13th Liverpool Biennial is called Bedrock, and it looks at the city’s history and character. On until 14 Sept.
Frieze House Seoul
Following in the footsteps of No. 9 Cork Street, Frieze’s first permanent exhibition space, Frieze House Seoul, will open this September, with gallery residencies and curated shows.

 | | | | | Jonathan Anderson, Dior Debut, S/S 2026 | A New Kind Of | Fashion parties | | All eyes were on Paris last week for the menswear shows, and something that caught our attention was fashion viewing parties at bars across the capital, where people would gather to watch the shows together. We’re hoping this neighbourhood watch makes its way to LDN.
