Sometimes, amidst the dusty roads and rustic dining on the brilliant, pared back island Formentera, a little luxury is appreciated, and that’s exactly what Five Flowers offers. Now part of the Meliá Collection, Five Flowers is the only five-star in Formentera.

The Hotel
The Austin Powers décor here irl offers feel good vibes – bright yellows are illuminated by sun streaming in – and plush furnishings and mod shapes add a bit of fun. There are 79 rooms, two pools, a rooftop with 360 degrees views, a spa, a bar and a gourmet restaurant.

The Vibe
On an island where everything is about muted shades and natural materials, this hotel definitely offers something different. Which likely was needed. The bar has DJs nightly, and the breakfast has a live music accompaniment. Everything here feels energetic and thematic. Hearts, flowers, Kartell chairs (Louis transparent Ghost seats with crayon-inspired hearts and Mademoiselle Missoni armchairs).

The Rooms
This is a five-star hotel so the showers are great, the minibars have some healthy and premium options, the lights are one-switch on/off, the décor is playful-yet-functional, and family rooms have scenic, rooftop jacuzzis.

Restaurants/Bars
The Sky Cocktail club has elevated drinks, sushi, and grilled fish and meats and is a great place for sunset; the pool bar has snacks; and the breakfast has local products and fresh juices.

Highlights
In Formentera often you have to choose between staying on the beach or in town, this is a great mix. You’re close to the bustling town Es Pujols, which is also next to the beach. Formentera is small, yes, but this still makes life even easier. It also allows you to mix a five-star stay with a more local time, which is ideal. We love the upbeat tiling in the spa, too; be sure to book a treatment, they’re reasonable and the spa is open late.

Anything Else
Their concierge is great on WhatsApp, so it’s easy to get help with anything you need – transfers, recommendations, bookings.
